Samad, who studies ‘MSc Management with Project Management with Professional Practice’ at Lincoln International Business School (LIBS), has taken up the opportunity to experience a year-long work placement as part of his two-year programme.

Jan Tunley, LIBS Postgraduate Employability Officer visited Samad on location at the offices of software firm Orcalo to ensure that he was enjoying the placement, was fully supported and progressing well.

Orcalo undertakes commissions for projects from various companies to develop software. They have a huge workload and some very large projects. Samad is a project lead, controlling the whole thing from the initial user story at low and high level, through designer talks and development, until handover. Samad has a great amount of responsibility which demonstrates the trust his employer has in him.

Samad says the mentoring he receives is fantastic. He is given full control over his project and areas but knows that if he needs support, a sounding board, or has any questions at all, his managers are there for him. Samad feels as though he is part of a work family, and he has made many friends among the other interns.

“My experience with my employer has been nothing short of incredible. Not only do they offer opportunities to deserving individuals, but they also help you, and provide the required tools, thereby facilitating your learning process and ensuring you gain all the necessary experience. I fully recommend Orcalo for your professional practice year.” – Samad Olayiwola.
